FAQ

Questions people ask us

Is there really a free plan?

Yes. The free plan is for free events: up to 200 tickets a month, your own event page, tickets by email with QR codes and the door scanner app. No card needed to start and it does not run out.

How much does it cost to sell paid tickets?

On Pay as you go there is no monthly fee. We take 4.5% + 25p on each paid ticket, taken automatically when the buyer pays. You choose per event whether the buyer pays that fee on top of the ticket price or you absorb it. Stripe's own card fee (about 1.5% + 20p for UK cards) comes off separately, the same as any card payment. Standard and Pro are a flat monthly or yearly price plus a much smaller per ticket fee than Pay as you go.

When do I get paid?

Ticket money goes straight into your own Stripe account as people buy, not to us. Stripe pays it out to your bank on a rolling schedule (usually a few days after each sale, and you can change the schedule in Stripe). We never hold your money.

Do I need a website?

No. Every organiser gets an event page at its own link that you can share on social media, WhatsApp, posters and Google. If you do have a website, you can embed your events or a single event with one line of code.

How do tickets work at the door?

Every ticket has a QR code, sent by email and shown on the buyer's phone. Your staff open the door app on any phone, point the camera at the code and get a big green tick (or a red cross if it has already been used or was cancelled). It works offline too, and you can search by name if someone has lost their email.

What about refunds?

You set the refund policy per event: no refunds, refunds up to N days before, or refunds any time before it starts. Buyers can cancel themselves within your policy and get their money back automatically. You can refund any order in one click from the dashboard, in full or in part, and our fee is returned in proportion. If you cancel an event, every buyer is refunded and emailed for you.

Can I sell different ticket types?

Yes. Early bird, Standard, Child, Table for 4, VIP, whatever you like. Each type has its own price, quantity, sale dates and limits per order, and a ticket can admit more than one person (a table for four is one QR code).

What about spam and ticket hoarding?

We rate limit checkouts, support Cloudflare Turnstile, cap how many orders one email or phone number can place per day, and unpaid orders release their tickets after 30 minutes so nothing stays held.

How does billing work for Standard and Pro?

Paid plans are monthly (cancel any time) or yearly at a lower price, paid through PayPal. They renew automatically; cancel the renewal from your dashboard if you do not want to continue and you drop back to the free plan with your events and data intact.

Who is behind this?

Ticketz is built and run by kalchevo.com, a UK web hosting company. Kalchevo hosting customers get the Standard features included.
